sTEM Core
Course Description:
Our 9/10 English class is a dynamic course designed to help students that have a specific interest in STEM develop skills as members of a community. Participating in Innovation STEM English will help students become better writers, readers and communicators in the academic world and as part of the future STEM workforce. We will focus on developing: communication, creativity, critical thinking and collaboration. We will follow the Common Core State Standards.
Throughout the year we will work to develop and practice the following skills:
Content Focus for Semester 2:
Grading Period 4 (1/9 - 2/17): Fahrenheit 451 - How can science fiction help guide ethics in the STEM workforce?
Grading Period 5 (2/18 - 4/7): Romeo and Juliet - How can understanding the human condition help guide the STEM workforce to solve humanity's problems?
Grading Period 6 (4/8 - 6/2): Student Choice Book Clubs and Sentence Diagramming - How can precise language make us a more effective STEM workforce?
